This page contains a link to the edited Essential Academic Learning Requirements edited from the Washington State EALR site on the date noted at the bottom of this page. This is a long collection of data and is intended as source material for recording student accomplishments. The data would be better formatted in a check list for individual student and teacher portfolios.
Author's Explanation and Intent
This project has many elements and incorporates both Social Studies and Language Arts skills. The list of EALRs from the State site is expansive and includes all those skills and learnings that comfortably fit within the initial scope of the project. The author would be very happy to complete a small portion of the tasks.
The cooperative learning focus of the design (teams, self-directed, teacher centered, and student teaching) was meant to provide the maximum latitude to the teacher and student within the boundaries of a 6th grade curriculum. The student and teacher cooperate by teaching and learning from each other. PowerPoint is intended as the principle medium to present the final products but other presentation methods could be employed even to physical storyboards or written reports.
