After you have completed this project you will present your slide show to the class. At the end of your presentation the audience will have an opportunity to ask questions. You should be prepared to give factual and proper information to answer your audience. You will know if you have done a good job of teaching if your students can answer the 5 questions that guided your research.
Each audience member will also provide you with a brief written form to offer you suggestions on how to improve your group’s presentation. Team members will evaluate their individual effort and the work of other team members. The teacher will also provide an evaluation by using the same rubric and written comments. (Link to Evaluation Rubrics).
During
this project you will be doing many small tasks that go to making a large
project. If you want to see all that you will be
learning follow this link to the list. Don't be afraid! We will
take these slowly and if we don't get to them all that is fine.
At the end of all of the presentations
the class members will select presentations and groups for individual
recognition. Teams and presentations
will be selected by vote for:
1.
Best use of graphics and pictures in a slide presentation.
2.
Best
oral presentation by a team.
3. Most
informative presentation.
If the class web page is operating we will upload the final student projects to the page and publish your slide shows to the Internet for other students to see.
The last piece of graded work will be a short 1-2 page written paper that will answer the big question of: What are two similarities and two differences between the geography of Africa and the geography of my home in Seattle? You should keep this "big question" in mind throughout the period of this project. This paper will be graded separately from the project. The Language Arts rubric for written work will be used to assess and grade this paper.
After all presentations and evaluations have been completed the class will celebrate the completion of the project. Together we will review all of the events and tasks. Students will reflect on what was successful and what could be improved. As a class, we will brainstorm ideas that can be included in changes to the Web Quest.
