The Iditarod rules say you must carry 2 sets of booties per dog in your team. You plan to make the booties during the summer before the race.

Polar fleece is the material that dog booties are made of. It costs $9.25 a yard. If you can make 24 booties per yard, how many yards would you need for your team of 17 dogs? How much would the polar fleece cost? (This problem has more than one part to solve it.)

You will use 4 inches of Velcro for each bootie. Velcro costs $1.25 per foot. How much velcro will you need? How much will it cost for the booties?

Mary was trying to catch up with a group of mushers. She traveled six check points with Dave and 3 checkpoints by herself. Then she flew with a bush pilot north two more check points to catch up. How many checkpoints did she travel through before she caught up?
