Digital Camera Walkabout

Learn how to integrate a digital camera into your writing program. Take pictures using a digital camera and learn to edit and organize digital images, trim for main idea, adjust brightness, and contrast. Participants will create a Power Point slideshow and a Microsoft Word photo journal to enhance the classroom writing process.

Outcomes:

· Use a digital camera to take pictures on a classroom curricular theme

· Edit and organize digital images (crop for main idea, adjust picture clarity and size, and sequence order)

· Create a continuously running slideshow using digital pictures

· Learn the process for integrating photo journals into writing and reading

· Identify reading, writing, and communication standards enhanced with the use of digital images

· Example of student photo journal created in Microsoft Word
