Advances in desktop video technology have brought the power of movie making to the classroom. The challenge this presents is how to use this medium to enhance learning and not just record the latest class play. In this class, participants will view and discuss examples of how video has been used to tell compelling stories in science, social studies and other areas of studies. They will then plan and make a short movie telling a story that addresses standards in their curricula.
Outcomes:
· Understand how students' use of video can enhance their learning
· Be able to use the basic elements of video production to tell a story
· Be able to edit a short video using iMovie or Studio DV
Projects:
· Produce a short movie that tells a story from the classroom curriculum using a video camera and editing software such as iMovie or Studio DV
