Inspiration in the Classroom

Idea maps help students generate ideas, clarify thinking, and develop thoughts visually. In this course, participants will learn to easily create and modify concept maps, webs, and basic diagrams to enhance classroom curriculum. These can be used for brainstorming and prewriting activities, solving problems, and helping students visualize the connections between concepts and ideas.

Outcomes:

· Understand the concept of visual learning and how it benefits student learning
· Explore classroom applications for graphic organizers
· Identify and use basic screen features, menu commands, diagram and outline view toolbars, and symbol palette for Inspiration software
· Design an activity using a graphic organizer to meet Washington State Standards


Project:

· Graphic organizer integrated into lesson plan that meets Washington State Standards
