of a Cherokee Indian. If you look closely you will notice that he is wearing
traditional European clothing of the time.

Tah-Chee or "dutch" was a Western Cherokee chief who refused to move from Arkansas to the Indian Territory and took his group to settle in Texas. The Texas Cherokee were forced to move to Indian Territory after a bloody battle witht the army of the Republic of Texas in the 1840's.
