Memorial

This is the memorial that I constructed with regular wire. It is supposed to be barbed wire. I decided to make barbed wire to represent the Indonesian oppressors. The blood on the wire represents all the people who have fallen fighting for independence and the innocent people who have been murdered for no reason. Barbed wire is like a cage. Whoever is inside is trapped until the wire is torn cut or torn down. This can happen in a month or a couple of years from now but eventually the barbed wire fence will collapse, and the people will be free to make whatever choices they want in their lives. The Maubere people won't have to worry about violence when they walk to the store, work, family reunions, etc. This memorial may be small but it's a remembrance of the people who died and the fight for independence.
