This section contains General resources for teachers of the arts as well as specific sites for Architecture, ArtPhotography, Music and Drama.

General:
Arts Edge  This is a cooperative site of the National Endowment for the Arts and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Huge resource that supports the K-12 curriculum. There is a section just for students and another for teachers and artists.
ArtsEdNet  This is an arts online service developed by the Getty Education Institute for the Arts. It supports the K-12 arts education community. This site will help all educators integrate art into the classroom.
Association for the Advancement of Arts Education  This is a network for arts in education.
Color Matters  A site which explores how color affects our lives. Great interdisciplinary site.
Illusion Works  Absolutely incredible site of optical and sensory illusions! There is a project section for teachers to use in Science Fairs. Check this site out!
The Incredible Art Department  There is a rich amount of material for elementary teachers and students here.
World Wide Art Resource  This site is billed as the biggest gateway to the arts. There is a list menu to choose from and the site even has its own search engine. Links to dance, literature, theater, etc. 

Architecture:
Architecture Through the Ages  This site is a good one for cross disciplinary teaching: art, history, science. It explores the architecture and culture of many civilizations. The site was developed by students as part of a ThinkQuest team. 
Virtual Study Tour  This site allows students to tour reproductions of ancient buildings and modern structures as well.

Art
A. Pintura: Art Detective  This is an online mystery which your students try to solve using their knowledge of artistic composition and art history.
ArtCyclopedia
  This site allows students to look for information about artists, art works and art museums.
ArtsEdNet  Sponsored by the Getty Education Institute for the Arts. Provides features, lesson plans, useful links and discussions to support arts education.
Art Teacher Connection  This site is good. It contains connections for teachers looking for art education resources, images, lessons and helpful tips on how to integrate computer technology into a visual arts program. It also is for classroom teachers wanting to learn how to connect art activities to their content area and theme units. Special emphasis is placed on teaching ideas and Internet projects that meet national standards in several content areas and have a strong art strand. 
Art Safari  This site allows elementary students to explore paintings and sculptures from the Museum of Modern Art. Questions guide them to write about what they see and they are also encouraged to create and submit their own art.
Eyes on Art  This site is designed to help students K-12 learn to look at art critically.
Gargoyles and Grotesques  This site is offered by Walter S. Arnold who carves gargoyles. Students will love the illustrations and explanations.
Monet's Garden at Giverny  Allows you to explore Claude Monet's home and gardens at Giverny. Has links to the Louvre and materials about Monet's life and art.
National Art Library  Based on the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, this site is a searchable database.
National Art Education Association  Links for information about membership, publications, conferences, and initiatives.
World of Escher  This site includes an Escher biography, stories about his life and work, many of his works, a Tessellation Contest and a place to order Escher related material.

Drama:
Creative Dramatics Lesson Plans  Site of creative lesson plans by grade level. Also includes the National Standards for Theater Education.
High School Technical Production  Site dedicated to assisting "High School Technical Theater students in their desire to learn about, create and execute theatrical productions."
The Drama Teacher's Resource Room This K-12 site includes lesson plans, production information, links and more.
The School Show Page  This site contains plays, reviews, technical guides and drama articles, as well as resources for your classroom.
Theater Education Literature Review  Catalog of 60 annotated literature sources on theater education. Check here if you would like to incorporate theater into your classroom.

Music:
Internet Resources for Music Teachers  This site is maintained and updated by Cynthia Shirk. It links to Music Newsgroups, K-12 Music Sites, Commercial Music Sites and Midi Resources.
World of Music  Find out about music and instruments of the world by clicking on a continent. This is a ThinkQuest project.
Music 102  A chronological history of Western Music from the Middle Ages to the present. Contains RealAudio files of pieces of the different periods.
Classical Music MIDI Page  MIDI sound files of great classical music. There is biographical information on each of the composers. You need a MIDI player for the Mac or PC to play these.
Picture Gallery of Classical Composers  This gallery of composers includes a brief biographical sketch of music makers from over 28 countries, from the 1400s through the present. A great beginning place for older students to start a research project on composers, or on the music from a specific countries or time periods.

Music Education Online Maintained by Larry Newman, Executive Director of The Children's Musical Workshop in Los Angeles, this page is designed to aid music educators in connecting with a variety of music education resources located on the Internet as well as providing interactive bulletin boards for posting questions and comments on music.
J.S. Bach Analysis of Canons and Fugues All the major forms of these two types of composition are explained here. The aim of the site is to have your students be able to compose a piece of music in this style.
Music on the World Wide Web Wonderful Index of all types of music.
Classical Net Introductory site with biographies, music history, articles and reviews and links to other classical music sites.
Early Women Masters East and West Great women composers, artists, and poets.
Composers in Electronic Residence (CIER) This is a site which links professional composers with teachers and students in classrooms around the world. It is nonprofit and teacher run. MIDI music files are exchanged.
Drums and Percussion Page Lots of information and links for the percussion teacher and students.
Mudcat Cafe Traditional Folksong database of 6,000 songs.
Gospel Music Hall of Fame and Museum Excellent site to explore the role of gospel music and its place and influence in American history. Gospel artists are featured and archived.

Photography:
Ansel Adams Learn about Adams' life and view his breathtaking photographs of the natural world. Biographical information and vast array of photographs.
George Eastman House Time line of the history of photography, information on black and white photography, highlights on famous photographers, historical photographs, and, of course, information on George Eastman the founder of Kodak.
California Museum of Photography Nice online exhibits of photography.
